Doa’s Monologue #16#

1日便

Hi everyone, Doa here. 👋😁

Good morning from a wild, rainy day — the kind that usually keeps people indoors with hot drinks and dry socks. But not us. Because when it rains, we dive. 🌧️🌧️

Rather than let the weather wash away our plans, we embraced it and turned the grey skies and rolling waves into a full-blown adventure. 🤩

Armed with snorkel and scuba gear, we explored the shallow waters of multiple ‘Touma‘ dive sites. 🤿

Meet the Protagonist of the Day:

Arothron stellatus, commonly known as the starry pufferfish. With its dotted, galaxy-like pattern, this little character appears to have been painted by the night sky itself. 🌟

They’re not the most agile swimmers — in fact, their slow, somewhat awkward movements make them look like underwater balloons drifting with(?) purpose. But don’t be fooled by their clumsiness. The starry pufferfish is a fascinating creature with many hidden edges.

These puffers feed on benthic invertebrates, such as sponges, algae, coral polyps (especially from Acropora corals), crustaceans, and mollusks.

Here’s the twist… They’re not born toxic. I can hear you saying, ‘But they are known for that, right?’ It’s actually accumulated over time through what they eat — specifically, certain bacteria that produce the potent tetrodotoxin. So, the more they eat that bacteria, the more they become toxic! 💀💀

Amazing balance of nature: “You become what you eat…” Like a superpower!

Sounds like a certain anime, doesn’t it? 👒🍈🏴‍☠️

Thank you for reading! See you in another monologue! 🤗
